I am Joel; a chemist by profession, but a teacher by trade. This blog is about two of my passions: writing and making pictures.
I write mostly poetry and the occasional essay. I am in no way an expert on the written word. I write primarily for the sake of writing. If in the process, I am able to rouse the reader's thoughts and emotions, then that in itself is a bonus.
I'm an (whatever is) available light photographer with a leaning towards using off-camera flash (mainly hot shoe flashes). I'm no sage on lighting, but I am willing to share what I know and what I've picked up along the way. I am deeply interested in making portraits.
I am especially intrigued by the challenge of putting 'everyday' people in a different light.
Although I am no seasoned traveler, I am willingly braving what lies outside the familiar to meet new people, see new places and hear new stories.
This blog is my way of catching up on old dreams; and I've a lot of catching up to do, so I've got to make every moment count.
